Federal Prison Industries (UNICOR) provides employment and training opportunities to incarcerated individuals through manufacturing, services, and technology programs that support federal agencies nationwide.
The Management Information Systems Branch (MISB) supports UNICOR's enterprise technology environment, including user support, infrastructure, networking, cybersecurity, and business systems. As UNICOR continues to modernize its technology environment, the Service Desk Technician II will play a key role in supporting users, maintaining system performance, and ensuring timely resolution of technical issues.
Position Summary
KeenLogic is seeking a Network Administrator to support Federal Prison Industries (UNICOR), a government corporation within the U.S. Department of Justice. The Network Administrator will support the design, administration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of enterprise network infrastructure and connectivity services. Working under the direction of the Government Lead Network Administrator, this position is responsible for ensuring the reliability, security, and performance of network systems while supporting enterprise IT operations across multiple locations.
The ideal candidate is a hands-on technical professional with experience supporting network infrastructure, diagnosing connectivity issues, administering network devices, and collaborating with infrastructure and support teams in a Microsoft-based enterprise environment.
This position operates under a hybrid remote work model and may require occasional onsite support and travel to UNICOR or Bureau of Prisons facilities as needed. This opportunity supports a federal contract with a one-year base period and four option years, offering up to five years of continued work. Schedule
- Monday through Friday
- Full-time (40 hours per week)
- 8-hour shifts
- Start times between 6:30 AM and 8:30 AM
- End times between 3:30 PM and 5:30 PM
Requirements
- 7+ years of networking experience
- CompTIA Network+ certification
- Can be used to substitute for 2 years of network experience
- Cisco CCNA Certification
- Can be used to substitute for 3 years of network experience.

Key Job Duties
- Install, configure, administer, and maintain enterprise network infrastructure, including routers, switches, firewalls, and related network devices.
- Monitor network performance, availability, and utilization to ensure reliable and efficient operations across the enterprise environment.
- Troubleshoot and resolve network connectivity issues affecting users, systems, applications, and infrastructure components.
- Configure and support LAN, WAN, VPN, wireless, and remote access technologies.
- Administer and maintain DNS, DHCP, IP addressing, and network access controls.
- Collaborate with system administrators, service desk personnel, and cybersecurity teams to resolve infrastructure and network-related issues.
- Perform network upgrades, hardware replacements, firmware updates, and configuration changes in accordance with established procedures.
- Monitor network logs, alerts, and performance metrics to proactively identify and resolve issues.
- Support implementation of network security controls and assist with vulnerability remediation and compliance initiatives.
- Maintain network documentation, diagrams, inventories, and configuration records.
- Assist with planning, testing, and deployment of network infrastructure enhancements and modernization efforts.
- Provide technical support and guidance to end users and IT staff regarding network-related issues and connectivity concerns.
- Support enterprise infrastructure projects and ensure network systems remain aligned with operational and security requirements.
- Participate in disaster recovery, continuity of operations, and network resiliency planning activities.
- Support network installations, maintenance activities, troubleshooting efforts, and operational requirements.
