CBRN Subject Matter Expert
SME Scientist (CBRN)
KeenLogic is seeking a SME Scientist (CBRN) to support our team with one of our government clients. This position supports Washington Headquarters Services (WHS) in delivering Facility Environmental Compliance, Planning, and Resiliency Technical Support across Department of Defense (DoD) facilities.
The role contributes to maintaining safe, compliant, and mission-ready environments by supporting emergency preparedness and response efforts related to chemical, biological, radiological, and nuclear (CBRN) incidents. Responsibilities include planning and executing response and recovery operations, coordinating across federal, state, and local agencies, and supporting threat assessments and mitigation strategies. The SME will also provide expertise in health exposure risks, decontamination, PPE requirements, sampling and testing methodologies, laboratory analysis, and waste disposal. Participation in drills, exercises, and development of CBRN plans is required.

Required Qualifications
Active Secret clearance
Bachelor’s degree in science or engineering OR Master’s degree in science or engineering
15+ years of experience with a bachelor’s OR 13+ years with a master’s
Duties and Responsibilities
Support CBRN response and recovery planning and execution
Coordinate with DoD and interagency partners
Develop and maintain CBRN plans
Conduct threat assessments and mitigation planning
Provide technical expertise in PPE, decontamination, and exposure response
Support exercises, drills, and preparedness initiatives
Required Work Experience
Identifying agencies, providing meeting support, and coordinating activities
Writing CBRN plans and participating in drills and exercises
Assisting with threat assessments and mitigation strategies
Providing expertise in areas associated with:
Health exposure
Decontamination of personnel and facilities
Levels of personal protective equipment (PPE)
Sampling strategies and techniques
Field testing, laboratory analysis, and quality assurance
Clearance goals
Waste disposal
Preferred Experience
Experience with DoD CBRN operational guidance
Experience preparing risk and vulnerability assessments
